More than 30 foremen from Commonwealth’s Omaha, NE, location recently gathered to strengthen their leadership skills and explore what it takes to develop the next generation of foremen.

The training challenged traditional leadership styles often associated with pressure and control, emphasizing the importance of building a positive crew culture through respect, communication, mentorship, and psychological safety.

Participants learned how intentional leadership helps future leaders thrive while improving team performance. Key takeaways included staying calm in challenging situations, correcting privately while recognizing success publicly, coaching team members through to completion, and leading the crew they wish they had when they were apprentices.

The session reinforced a simple but powerful message: great leadership isn’t about being the hero—it’s about investing in others and creating an environment where leaders can grow.
