A Temporary Harrah’s Casino has grown legs at Ag Park in Columbus, Nebraska, following an agreement between the Platte County Agricultural Society and Caesars Entertainment. While the permanent casino is under construction, the eager residents of the Columbus area will soon have a place to test the waters. The interim facility will feature 250 slot machines. There will be no physical table games due to space constraints; Instead, the temporary casino will have virtual or video versions. The Platte County fair will still be held as usual, and the exhibits that were in the exhibition building will be relocated. Horse racing will still continue at Ag Park.
Renovations on the exhibition building began in January and are expected to wrap up in April of 2023. Commonwealth has partnered up with The Whiting-Turner Contracting Company on this project. Our team will have Jeremy Braun holding the reins, with Karl Kwapnoski leading the charge on the electrical work and Kip Kudron jockeying the low-voltage efforts. Whiting-Turner will also be the general contractor on the permanent casino, which will be located northwest of Columbus on Highway 81. It is featured to be a 40,000-square-foot casino with more than 400 slot machines, 20 table games, a sportsbook, and several restaurants and retail shops. On the outside, the casino will be a motel, and the main feature will be the one-mile horse racing surface with grandstands and horse barns.
