Commonwealth’s approach to philanthropy is rooted in the understanding that the company does not solely exist to deliver top-tier electrical, low voltage, and exposition services, but also to actively contribute to the betterment of its industry, customers, and communities. Commonwealth Cares formalizes all aspects of the company’s giving under the banner “Energizing Communities for a Brighter Tomorrow.” This initiative builds upon Commonwealth’s local efforts and establishes a framework for more significant, strategic charitable actions.
The Commonwealth Cares initiative is structured to ensure sustained and impactful giving. Commonwealth will continue to support local customer-giving causes, youth sports teams, charitable donations, and volunteering efforts such as Habitat for Humanity and Meals on Wheels. At the holding company level, a significant percentage of net profits will be allocated annually towards this strategic effort.
“We are incredibly proud to launch the Commonwealth Cares initiative,
which embodies our commitment to making a positive impact in the
communities we serve. This initiative is not just about giving back; it’s
about creating lasting change and fostering a culture of generosity and
community involvement within our organization. By empowering our
employees to actively participate in philanthropic activities and
supporting causes that matter to them, we are building a brighter
future together. Commonwealth Cares is a testament to our dedication
to being a force for good, and we look forward to seeing the
meaningful difference we can make.”–T Michael Price, President/CEO of Commonwealth
A key component of Commonwealth Cares is the creation of the Employee-Owner Philanthropic Committee. This committee, which includes representatives from each of Commonwealth’s locations, plays a pivotal role in overseeing all philanthropic activities within the company. Chaired by Commonwealth’s CEO and composed of members from the company’s Executive Leadership Team and Employee Ownership Committee, it promotes a diverse range of perspectives and expertise in decision-making.
The Employee-Owner Philanthropic Committee has developed mechanisms for employees to nominate and vote on charitable causes and organizations to support. This participatory approach fosters a sense of ownership and community within Commonwealth, encouraging employees to actively contribute by nominating charities that are important to them. This inclusive process allows employees to use their skills, volunteer their time, and have a say in the philanthropic direction of their company.
“We are thrilled to announce that we have successfully completed our first round of charitable giving through the Commonwealth Cares initiative,” said T Michael Price, president and CEO of Commonwealth. “It has been an incredibly rewarding experience to see the enthusiasm and dedication of our employees in selecting and supporting these worthy causes. We are excited to share the good news with the chosen charities and look forward to witnessing the positive impact our contributions will have on their important work. This is just the beginning of our journey in making a meaningful difference in our communities…we’re just getting started.”
