Commonwealth Electric Company of the Midwest (CECM) is nearing completion of the Phase 2 expansion of the WarHorse Casino in Lincoln, NE, with the project set to be finalized in November. Shortly following this, Phase 2A will commence and is expected to be completed by March 2025. Sampson Construction is serving as the General Contractor for this significant expansion.

The expansion project will add an impressive 25,000 square feet of gaming space, featuring 800 additional slot machines and 12 table games. The electrical portion of the project has been expertly led by General Foreman Ron Lannin and Foreman Nick Lambert, while the low voltage team has been under the leadership of Low Voltage General Forman Jacob Starkey.

The project has provided an excellent opportunity to showcase a variety of services. The CECM team utilized the Topcon system to layout the electrical room and all the underfloor gaming box locations. Commonwealth’s prefabrication department played a crucial role by building various underground panel conduit starters as well as larger data conduits. Additionally, the CECM engineering team contributed by assisting with weekly building information modeling (BIM) clash detection meetings, ensuring smooth coordination and execution.

The electrical scope of work for this project has been extensive. It has included the installation of new electrical services, a generator, transfer switches, and an uninterruptible power supply (UPS) system. The low voltage team was responsible for managing data drops to the slot machines and installing hundreds of cameras, ensuring comprehensive coverage and security.

Overall, this expansion project at the WarHorse Casino is a testament to the collaborative efforts and expertise of the teams involved, promising to enhance the gaming experience for WarHorse Casino’s customers.
