INTERN SPOTLIGHT – Nico Guzman
School: University of Nebraska – Omaha
Internship: VDC with Engineering
Location: Omaha, NE
Supervisor: Gerald Holmes
Nico is working in the Central Engineering group as a VDC Detailer this summer. His primary role is the assist VDC Designers and VDC Coordinators by laying out, detailing, and providing drawing and CAD services to various projects. These documents then get sent for shop review and field installation drawings for systems and equipment to be field installed.
The CECM internship program for the Central Engineering department has provided a unique opportunity for those seeking the world of electrical engineering, without having to sit in an office environment day to day. It provides them an in-person ability to see what is being designed and how it is installed by traveling to the field. They can see how things go from paper to field how systems are implemented for our clients. Getting a real-world education is a very important step in growing into the professional they are sure to become.

Favorite Quote:
Here’s to the crazy ones, the misfits, the rebels, the troublemakers, the round pegs in the square holes… the ones who see things differently – they’re not fond of rules… You can quote them, disagree with them, glorify or vilify them, but the only thing you can’t do is ignore them because they change things… they push the human race forward, and while some may see them as the crazy ones, we see genius, because the ones who are crazy enough to think that they can change the world, are the ones who do.
