PRECONSTRUCTION
SERVICES
In our industry, efficiency is essential. Commonwealth Electric has found multiple ways to streamline our process and provide cost-saving benefits to our customers.
With our preconstruction services, our team can plan, estimate, and engineer a project before we even put our hard hats on.
During this stage, we work with our customers to build an accurate project schedule with recommendations for speeding up the project before construction begins. Our approach is proactive, not reactive. With pre-construction planning, we can identify and solve many issues before our team is ever on-site, often avoiding many possible problems altogether.
ENGINEERING
Commonwealth Electric supports an in-house team of Virtual Design Construction (VDC) engineers who can offer design-build and design-assist to our preconstruction services. We use Building Information Modeling (BIM) to design our work, coordinate with other trades, create construction drawings, and prefabricate components. Electricians work closely with our engineers to model each element as it will be installed. Preconstruction engineering allows us to evaluate constructability and clash detection, so we minimize on-site complications.
ESTIMATING
Our skilled team of estimators use historical data, project scope, cutting-edge technology, and years of experience to create accurate conceptual cost estimates early in the process. As a contractor, we should have a full understanding of every project we touch. Our estimating team assists in gaining that initial understanding of a project’s needs and what we need to do to meet them.
PREFABRICATION
During our preconstruction phase, our team identifies repeated field installation tasks that can be constructed before our onsite work begins. We call this our fast-tracking process, which has proven to be particularly valuable to developers working within tight completion schedules.
Our in-house prefabrication shops are furnished with specialty tools and equipment that enable low-labor, high-quality assembly. Preassembled materials minimize on-site operations and maximize in-house labor, which can reduce material and labor costs, decrease construction site waste, and cut overall project time.
