Electrical work at Legacy Downs
Commonwealth’s Lincoln, NE, team recently completed electrical work for the Nebraska Horsemen’s Benevolent and Protective Association project at Legacy Downs. The project included the addition of two barns, a water meter building, and a 2,000-amp electrical service. Each barn includes 170 stalls and features washdown areas, lab testing space, and horse walker equipment to support operations at the facility.
Chief Construction served as the general contractor, with Commonwealth’s project team led by Project Manager James Haake and supported by Foreman Austin Wilson and General Foremen Andy Wotipka and Jason Rieckman. The team also partnered with Commonwealth’s Engineering and Prefabrication teams to keep the project moving efficiently. Electrical Engineer Marijo Bosiljevac designed the electrical service and created the barn drawings, while the Prefab team built pre-wired outlet, light, and switch assemblies that arrived on site ready to install.
This coordination proved especially valuable as the team worked through winter conditions and a tight schedule. The project began in January and was completed on schedule in April, just in time for races to begin in May. Looking ahead, plans are already in place to add an additional barn this fall.
