At Commonwealth, safety is more than a program. It is a core value and an essential part of who we are. As an employee-owned company, we are committed to providing every employee with the training, resources, equipment, and support needed to work safely each day. In an industry where the risks are real, our goal remains simple: ensure every employee returns home safely at the end of every shift. This commitment is reflected in our comprehensive safety training, active safety committees, PPE requirements, safety award programs, and dedicated safety leadership.
As Commonwealth continues to grow, so does our investment in safety leadership. Recent promotions within the Safety Department recognize three outstanding leaders whose dedication and expertise continue to strengthen our safety culture across the organization. Todd Longenecker was promoted to Vice President of Safety after more than a decade of leading initiatives focused on protecting employees and advancing safety programs company-wide. Joining Todd in expanded leadership roles are Lucas Simpson and Brett Dwyer, who were promoted to Directors of Safety. Lucas will continue supporting Greater Nebraska, Lincoln, Phoenix, Tucson, and mining operations, while Brett will focus on large projects and safety operations across Des Moines, Omaha, Rydalch, and Confluence Technology Group. Together, Todd, Lucas, and Brett represent the next generation of safety leadership and our ongoing mission to be the safest electrical contractor in the industry.
That commitment was on full display throughout Electrical Safety Month as teams across Commonwealth, Rydalch Electric, and Confluence Technology Group came together to reinforce safe work practices and celebrate the people who make safety a priority every day.
In Omaha, employees participated in safety-focused events ranging from field appreciation activities and project-wide meetings to jobsite lunches and educational presentations. Safety leaders met with crews across multiple project sites to discuss electrical safety best practices, recognize employees for their contributions, and reinforce the important role every employee plays in creating a safe work environment. Large project meetings brought together field employees, project managers, and safety personnel to keep safety at the forefront of daily operations. Safety trivia contests, raffles, and recognition programs added an element of fun while encouraging engagement in important safety conversations.
At Confluence Technology Group, teams celebrated Electrical Safety Month with safety lunches, employee appreciation events, and the distribution of safety-themed merchandise across multiple branches. Technicians and field employees gathered to discuss safe work practices, share experiences, and reinforce the importance of maintaining a strong safety culture on every project and at every location.
The results of our safety culture can be seen throughout the company. During the second quarter, the Phoenix team earned its first Commonwealth Cup, a recognition that celebrates locations demonstrating outstanding performance, teamwork, and commitment to company values. As part of the recognition, employees CJ Crawford and Adam Ibrahim were the winners of the gift cards for their dedication to working safely.
Safety is not the responsibility of one department or one individual. It belongs to every employee, every crew, and every location. Through strong leadership, continuous training, employee engagement, and a shared commitment to looking out for one another, Commonwealth continues to build a culture where safety is not just something we do; it is part of who we are.
