The Lincoln Low Voltage and Service teams are working together to upgrade Pinnacle Bank Arena.

This summer, our Low Voltage and Service departments are teaming up on two major projects at Pinnacle Bank Arena (PBA) in Lincoln, NE. It’s been a great example of how our teams can collaborate across disciplines to get a lot done in a short amount of time—especially in a live, high-traffic venue like this one.

The first project is a full Wi-Fi system upgrade, which we are completing under general contractor Five Nines. This upgrade is all about improving connectivity throughout the arena—making sure fans, staff, and media have fast, reliable internet access during events.

Our Low Voltage team is leading this project. They are handling the installation of new access points, running updated cabling, and making sure the system is built to handle thousands of users at once. It’s a big undertaking, and they have been doing a great job coordinating with the PBA facility staff to keep things moving smoothly. Jacob Starkey is serving as our Low Voltage Foreman on this project and has been doing a solid job keeping everything on track.

The second project is a video display system upgrade, which is being done under Mitsubishi Electric. It includes replacing the main center-hung display and upgrading the ribbon boards that wrap around the arena. These new displays are going to be a huge visual upgrade—brighter, sharper, and more dynamic for fans at every event.

This project is being led by our Service team, with Josh Roussan as the Electrical Foreman. He’s heading up the electrical side of the display upgrade, with support from our Low Voltage crew. The electrical scope includes new power distribution, conduit work, and making sure everything is ready to support the new display systems.

One of the biggest challenges with both of these projects is that the arena is still fully operational. Events are happening while we’re working, so we’ve had to be flexible with scheduling and work closely with the facility staff to avoid disruptions. Both teams have done a great job of staying safe, staying organized, and keeping the work moving forward without interfering with the arena’s day-to-day operations.

It’s been a great team effort all around, and it’s exciting to see the progress being made. These upgrades are going to make a big difference for the arena and everyone who uses it—and it’s been great to see Commonwealth Electric Company of the Midwest right in the middle of it.
