Commonwealth Electric Company of the Midwest (CECM) is proud to play a key role in the Weigand Marina Expansion, a high impact project that enhances the facilities and services at the Lewis and Clark State Recreation Area, near Crofton, NE, while supporting the region’s growing recreational boating demand. Delivered in partnership with General Excavating, the project is led by Project Manager Carter Abels, with Job Foreman Chris Graves overseeing onsite execution. The expansion includes the addition of seven new boat slip docks and two-day use docks, helping expand marina capacity and elevate the overall experience for visitors and boaters.

CECM’s expertise is critical to the success of this expansion, with an electrical scope designed to improve convenience, reliability, and long-term performance. Our team is installing power for 137 electric pedestals, giving customers dependable access to shore power while docked. Electrical service is also being provided to strategically placed water circulators that improve water quality by reducing algae growth and surface debris. Additional work includes powering an on-water kiosk and fuel dispenser, along with the installation of power and controls within the Ground Storage Reservoir Building— supporting essential infrastructure that keeps marina operations running smoothly.

What sets the Weigand Marina Expansion apart is its scale and lasting benefit to the Lewis and Clark State Recreation Area. Beyond interior dock upgrades, the project includes construction of a new permanent breakwater and floating wave attenuators extending into the lake. Once complete, these improvements will allow for an additional 150 boat slips, addressing increasing demand while enhancing shoreline protection and water conditions. This project showcases CECM’s ability to deliver innovative, reliable electrical solutions that support community growth, recreation, and long-term infrastructure investment across the region.
